Dorothy ‘Miss Dottie’ Kalkbrenner, 89, has retired from her post as a crossing guard at Highland Elementary School (Abington School District) after 47 years of service, 6ABC reported today.

Highland students and staff held an assembly in her honor, during which she received a Certificate of Commendation from Abington Township and hand-drawn thank you cards.

She looks forward to being more active in her senior community in retirement, 6ABC said.
