Power outages count according to PECO’s County/Municipal Outage Report as of 10:00pm on Thursday, June 19:

  • Abington: 70
  • Cheltenham: 47
  • Hatboro: 15
  • Jenkintown: 1
  • Lower Moreland: 22
  • Rockledge: 2
  • Springfield: 29
  • Upper Moreland: 68

The Abington Township Police Department announced at 9:00pm that 7,503 homes are currently without power in the township.

“If your power is out, please notify PECO at 1-800-841-4141 to ensure that they are aware of your outage. Treat all down wires as if they are energized and stay a safe distance from them,” the department said. “There are many roads in Abington closed due to downed trees and power lines. Abington Public Works is actively working to clear any roads that do not have PECO wires involved. Please do not drive around barricades, as they are there for your safety.”

The department noted that Jenkintown Road is closed between Edge Hill Road and Tyson Avenue due to a tree down on SEPTA lines, and Fitzwatertown Road is closed between Elliot and Lamott due to a large tree down with PECO wires involved.

According to The Philadelphia Inquirer, the thunderstorm’s winds reached 55mph and knocked out power to more than 275,000 Peco customers in the region.
