6-time Emmy winner to hold public screening of new documentary

Six-time Emmy-award winner Martin Zied, a 1974 graduate of Penn State Abington, will host a public screening of his new documentary on October 25 at 7:00pm in the Woodland Building at PSU Abington. A pre-reception will begin at 6:30pm, and a question-and-answer session will follow the screening.

Zied’s 75-minute film, “Voice Messages,” focuses on the power and beauty of the human voice. The documentary includes sound effects guru Michael Winslow, impressionist/comedian Billy West, voiceover artist Andromeda Dunker, Grammy Award winners Linda Ronstadt, Vince Gill and Lalah Hathaway, as well as the a cappella group Take 6.

Zied spent more than eight years developing the documentary while teaching at PSU Abington.

“It’s ironic that I am teaching speech communications at Abington because I took the same class when I was a student here,” Zied said. “The skills I learned stayed with me in my professional career, and it helped me to become comfortable speaking in front of groups of people, which I did often.”

The film is dedicated to Ross Brinkert, a faculty colleague of Zied’s at PSU Abington who passed away in 2020.
