Press Release:
Fourteen talented students at Abington Senior High School have qualified for this year’s Pennsylvania Music Educators (PMEA) All-State Festival, a new school record! This year’s event will be held in The Poconos from April 22-25.
Seven students have qualified in Modern Band, four in Orchestra, two in Choir and one in Wind Ensemble. The PMEA All-State Festival is the pinnacle achievement for high school music students in a given school year, with most schools typically only qualifying a handful of students annually.
Each year, tens of thousands of high school musicians across the state audition in their geographic area, as well as the state at large. Individually, students perform for a panel of judges, with the highest-ranking student musicians being selected to participate in the Pennsylvania All-State Music Festival.
At the festival, nationally recognized conductors direct the groups, who rehearse for two days, culminating in performances by the prestigious ensembles.
The students from Abington Senior High School who will perform in the 2026 All-State Ensembles include:
- Grace Corson, All-State Modern Band
- Dorothy Davids, All-State Chorus
- Jacob Fortino, All-State Modern Band
