Montgomery County official announced two more deaths today due to the Coronavirus. The death total is now at 12 across the county. The latest two victims were a 79-year-old man from Springfield Township and an 86-year-old man from Upper Providence Township. Both were in the hospital and both had underlying medical conditions.

The total number of cases in the county sits at 707 as of today, which is 113 more than yesterday. While that is the largest one day jump thus far, Dr. Val Arkoosh, chairman of the Montgomery County Board of Commissioners, made a point that the jump today didn’t necessarily concern her. The results that come back from commercial labs each day varies. For example, many people who are tested are told that their test results could take up to seven days. The county is tracking how many people test positive from each specific day, not what day the results become available (she explains this in the below video).

The latest numbers locally are:

• Abington Township is at 52, which is seven more than yesterday
• Cheltenham Township is at 54, which is 13 more than yesterday
• Jenkintown is at six, which is one more than yesterday
